The Boys & Girls Club of Allentown is seeking caring, enthusiast, community-minded individuals to work in the following youth development positions:


Annual Fund & Special Events Manager – Full Time – The Annual Fund & Special Events Manager provides leadership to the Boys & Girls Club of Allentown, Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors in the effective operation of assigned resource development activities which will include but not be limited to special events and the annual fund as required to fund Club operations and deliver programs within the community.  Reports to the Development Director.  Major responsibilities include managing all logistics for annual fund and special events (i.e. annual dinner and golf tournament), requesting and obtaining event sponsorships and solicitation of gifts, preparing related printed materials and publications, etc.

This is a full-time position.  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred or equivalent experience is needed.  Candidates must have a minimum of three years of proven documented experience working in non-profit agency fundraising field or resource development.  Candidate needs a proven track record of requesting and obtaining annual gifts and sponsorship funds.  Knowledge and demonstrated proficiency of fundraising techniques is necessary.  Ability to organize and coordinate multiple fundraising projects at the same time is essential.  Strong oral and written communication skills required.  Knowledge of computer programs including Donor Perfect data base, excel, word and power point is preferred.

Program Assistant for Make Your M.A.R.K.™ – Part Time
Make Your M.A.R.K.™ (Motivated Academically Ready Kids) Program Assistants are responsible for helping with the instruction of an individualized after school educational reading and math program. Work includes tutoring children in very small groups or one to one in very basic reading skills. Monitor students’ work and inspire them to achieve their best at each session. Document student’s progress through an established evaluation system. This Boys & Girls Club of Allentown position is offered at sites in the Allentown School District and other community centers. High school diploma and experience working with children is required. Hours are available – one to four days a week, Monday through Thursday from 3:15-5:30 p.m. or 4:30-6:30 p.m. Hourly rate $8-$9. Responsible for duties and activities during the after-school program and during the summer program as assigned. Directly responsible to the Senior Unit Director. May be required to transport youth in Club vehicle to off-site field trip and event destinations. A degree from a two or four year accredited college in education, the arts, recreation, or a related field, is preferred. Experience in the various grade school education programs, arts and crafts media, and vocational or industrial arts is recommended. He/She should have a mentoring personality and temperament that encourages trust, confidence, and respect from the membership, staff, and public. He/She should have a good character and good set of values, and be a good mentor for the youth members to follow. DVL required. Must provide 3 background clearances and 3 references. Bi-lingual experience is an asset. Full-time, hours in the school year are Monday through Friday from 1:30pm to 9:30pm, and hours during the summer program are Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Salary $30,000. EOE. Program Assistant – Part-time Supports the Full-time Youth Development staff delivering a diverse, fun variety of youth programs and activities. He/She must be willing to work in different program areas as needed, including delivering educational and mentoring programs, front desk duties, as well as arts, sports, fitness, health, life skills, and recreation. Youth served are 6 to 18 years old.
Various Clubhouse locations: Sixth Street, Turner Street, and the Teen Center.
After-school core hours: 3:30pm to 7:00pm, Monday through Friday. Maximum 20 hours per week.
Summer hours: 10:00am to 6:00pm.
Job Type: Part-time
Entry level position.  Rate: $8.00 /hour
Ideal for High School or College student.


Certified Lifeguard – part time Certified lifeguard(s) needed for after-school and summer part-time positions. After-school days/hours: Monday to Friday, 4:00pm to 7:30pm. Summer days/hours: Monday to Friday, 11:30am to 3:30pm. Lifeguard experience and bilingual (Spanish) preferred, but not required. Candidates must be at least 17 years of age. In order to volunteer or be employed at BGCA you will need to present the originals for all three clearances that are less than one year old. You can obtain the clearances at the following places listed below. Both the PA Criminal Background check and the PA Child Abuse check are free at no charge to volunteers for first-time applicants. Be aware that state wide changes are made to the clearance systems from time to time, however, BGCA attempts to update changes when they occur.

Employees Only: Act 34 – PA Criminal Background Clearance Apply online via the “epatch” system at https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp Select “Submit a New Record Check” for Employees.Pay with credit/debit card ($22.00 at 12/2017)Results should be instantaneous unless they are “under review” in which case, note your reference number and date of application and use that information to check back on the “epatch” website periodically until your results are available.Request a mailed certificate.Print clearance (be sure you click all the way through to the “certification form” button – the document you print must show your social security number, Date of Birth, etc.) and submit to Human Resources with other clearances.IMPORTANT – PLEASE NOTE: When you go into the PA Criminal Background clearance to view and print it, if you don’t either SAVE or PRINT out the clearance by clicking on the “CERTIFICATION” button, you will NOT BE ABLE to view or print out the actual clearance if you go back into the site.
