The Boys & Girls Club of Allentown (BGCA) is thrilled to receive a grant from Wells Fargo for our award winning Make Your M.A.R.K.™ program.  Wells Fargo representatives Molly Santee and Evalys Santiago presented a check for $5,000 to BGCA’s CEO Deb Fries-Jackson on May 10th.

Make Your M.A.R.K.™ has a triple effect on youth in the areas of academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. Students experience real academic results with a minimum 15% increase in their language arts/reading/English and math skills when they participate in Make Your M.A.R.K.™ The Allentown School District officials are consistently pleased with the accessibility of Make Your M.A.R.K.™ as the program is offered at 10 different locations throughout the city. These locations are in schools, at BGCA clubhouses and near the homes of the students in the district. Students who exhibit academic success, good character and healthy lifestyle choices are the ultimate role models to kids who might otherwise choose a path of poor school attendance and crime.

Our Make Your M.A.R.K.™ Program was recognized recently by Boys & Girls Club of America with a national Merit Award in the education category.  Only two of these prestigious awards of excellence are given out annually.  The award was presented to our Club during the national Boys & Girls Club of America conference in early May.  We are truly proud of the more than 4,000 students who have participated in Make Your M.A.R.K.™.  They are positive role models who are now Boys & Girls Club of Allentown Alumni in our community.  BGCA is proud to partner with funders like Wells Fargo.  Their support funds critical educational programs that make our kids and community stronger.
